I was triggered — but I didn't lose my focus

Hey Reader,

I've been thinking a lot about the launch of my rebrand — the website, podcast, and coaching program — and how differently this launch has gone compared to when I started my first coaching practice nearly 15 years ago.

Over the years, I've learned a few things about running a business, marketing, and communication. But more importantly, I've learned some valuable lessons about myself.

The woman I was back then was still finding her way. If things weren't just right, I would scrap them entirely. I was obsessed with polish, with perfection — and even though I knew what mattered most was having conversations and putting out good content, I kept getting lost in the minutia.

And that's exactly what happens to so many of us as leaders.

We get consumed by the trivial many instead of focusing on the critical few. Our own minds hijack us — triggered by an imperfect PowerPoint, agonizing over the opening remarks for the all-hands — while losing sight of what truly matters.

What truly matters can shift from week to week, even day to day. But if you can't focus — if you can't give yourself the space to think clearly — you will constantly feel overwhelmed and overworked.

That's not to say that leading at the Director or VP level is easy. But it can be simpler. Sometimes all it takes is someone asking you the right questions to help you cut through the noise and get back to the critical few.

If any of this resonates, I invite you to apply for a Clarity Call. In this 45-minute conversation, we'll unpack the one shift you need to make to move forward with a little less on your plate — the difference that will make all the difference in your work.

And if you're short on time right now, start with Episode 2 of the un-Corporate Leader podcast, where I cover the 4 Behaviors of Strategic Leadership that will unlock time in your schedule. Listen at 2x speed and you'll be done in 15 minutes!

Be well,
Silvia

P.S. Episode 5 is live! Learn what Executive Presence really means — and the 3 strategies you need to develop it. Catch it on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

P.P.S. I have a few spots open for 1:1 work in the Leadership Reset — a 3-month coaching program built around the 5 Pillars of Leadership to help you navigate the ever-changing world of leading others, without losing your sanity in the process.

If you're interested, reach out and we'll find time to see if it's the right fit.

Leaders who've gone through this intensive have walked away with greater clarity, sharper focus, and time back in their busy schedules — and I'd love the same for you.

Hey Reader Welcome to Episode 8 of the un-Corporate Leader Podcast — where this week we tackle one of the most common frustrations I hear from leaders: What do I do when I have a talent problem? You know what it's like — someone on your team isn't delivering, and you're already mentally drafting the corrective action plan. But what if the issue isn't them? What if the real gap is clarity — and it starts with you? In this week's episode, we'll cover: Why focusing on talent too soon can...

Hello Reader, Have you ever reached the end of a week and thought: wow, a lot happened this week — and meant it in the best possible way? Not the overwhelmed, exhausted kind of "a lot." The feel-good, neurochemical kind. 😊 It's been a while since I've had a week like that — one where I felt genuinely grounded, happy, and joyful. But this was that week. The un-Corporate Leader officially launched. Many of you have been with me for a while — following along, cheering me on, watching this idea...

Hey Reader, Episode 6 is live and it’s a good one: 3 Steps to Influence any Exec. Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcast or via Web. Inside today's show: You know the moment.
