Hey Reader , Last weekend, we moved the Pilates studio. A little over a year ago, I found myself investing in a boutique Pilates studio here in West Maui. As you may know, recovery is still underway post-fire, and commercial space is scarce — after viewing 12 spaces and entering into 3 letters of intent, each falling apart, I finally pivoted and decided to bring the studio home. Having a home-based business isn't unusual here in Hawaii. Aestheticians, massage therapists, acupuncturists — many run their practices out of their homes. It's part of the charm, and frankly, the reality of island life, where real estate is expensive and everything else gets shipped in. As we prepared for the move, I was grateful for the help — and equally grateful that I had my corporate mindset firmly in place. The goal: a smooth, well-executed move. Maybe not entirely stress-free (worrying is basically a preset emotion for me), but as close to it as possible. The key challenge with moving a Pilates studio is the sheer size and weight of the equipment. That meant making sure the movers had everything they needed upfront — the number of movers required, the right truck size, start and end points, road constraints, timing, and more. And that's exactly where the leadership framework came in. No matter the task — whether you're a big-L or little-l leader — being able to clearly articulate the desired outcome, outline the constraints, and then step back and let others do the work is essential. If you're not using this simple framework, you're creating more work for yourself than necessary. In fact, nine times out of ten, when I work with overwhelmed leaders, this is exactly where we start. We zero in on key priorities, and for each one, we apply this framework. Even leaders who feel confident in how they've communicated expectations almost always find room to get clearer — tightening the outcome, adding criteria, giving their teams the context they need to move forward with confidence. Leaders who invest time upfront in this way consistently recover 20–30% of their workweek. Time no longer spent answering questions, redirecting efforts, or reworking deliverables because the team didn't quite get it the first time. So here's a question worth sitting with: what projects do you have on your plate right now that need more explicit framing? Where are you losing time because the outcome hasn't been clearly defined? If gaining back 20–30% of your time sounds appealing, it might be time for us to work together. And if things are going great for you — I genuinely love to hear that too. Drop me a line and tell me what's working! Be well, P.S. Episode 2 is live! I share a few more tips on making life as a leader a little easier — catch it on Spotify and Apple Podcast P.P.S. I have a few spots open for 1:1 work in the Leadership Reset — a 3-month coaching program built around the 5 Pillars of Leadership to help you navigate the ever-changing world of leading others, without losing your sanity in the process. If you're interested, reach out and we'll find some time to see if it's the right fit. Leaders who've gone through this intensive have walked away with greater clarity, sharper focus, and time back in their busy schedules — and I'd love the same for you. |

Dear Reader As I was recording, editing, and programming all things podcast, I kept hearing myself reference the burnout I felt during my final years in the corporate world — and insisting that the fatigue wasn't about the work. And the more I heard myself say it without unpacking it, the more I found myself checking in. Was that actually true? The honest answer is: I hadn't fully examined that season of my life until now. But with more perspective, more support, and a lot of layers peeled...
